How to obtain a hand-scripted papal blessing

Requests for hand-scripted papal blessings on parchment can be made in person at the Vaticanís Elemosineria (Office of Papal Charities), just inside St. Anneís Gate in Vatican City. It is open from 9 a.m. to noon weekdays.

Requests can also be made via fax or by mail:

     — Fax: (39-06) 6988-3132
     — Mail: Elemosineria Apostolica Vatican City 00120

The request should contain the person's name and address and the occasion for the blessing. If multiple blessings are being requested, the reason/occasion and each person's name should be written clearly and legibly. The price ranges from 6 euros to 25 euros, depending on the type and size of blessing. The blessing can be picked up when it has been completed, or for extra payment it can be mailed to a recipient in a cardboard tube.
