Of the 500 respondents to the national telephone survey, 76 percent were white/Caucasian, 6 percent were Hispanic/Latino, another 5 percent were black/African American and Asian, and less than 1 percent were Native American.<br><br>A strong geographic diversity is reflected in the fact that respondents came from 455 different zip codes.<br><br>The majority -- 53 percent -- acknowledged being Christian but not Roman Catholic as were another 29 percent. One percent were Jewish and Hindu, and less than 1 percent were Mormon, Muslim and Buddhist.<br><br>Nearly all of the respondents, 60 percent of whom were women, finished high school; 40 percent were college graduates.
