document.writeln("
Bishops' recommendations to protect children from inappropriate media
By Father Robert L. Kinast

Catholic News Service

In a modern version of the ancient adage that it takes a village to raise a child, the U.S. bishops have offered six recommendations for protecting children from inappropriate media content in today's digital world. Recommendations are aimed at those responsible for media ratings systems, policymakers and broadcasters, manufacturers, programmers, educators and of course parents themselves.

The recommendations are based on a national survey of parents of children ages 2-14. The survey was commissioned by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. The recommendations represent a summary of the survey's findings, stated in terms of action proposals, that the bishops hope will ensure 'a safer and more enriching environment for America's next generation.'

");
